On our way to the Sacred Valley of the Inkas, a shot of Mas with the surrounding Peruvian terrain. How did those mountains get those cool ripples? It's amazing.
Mas and I overlooking the Urubamba Valley (Valley of the Sun). The actual temples and ruins are not visible -- they are past the bend in the mountains.
A clearer shot of the valley. If you look carefully, you can see the beautiful snow-capped mountains in the background.
The mountains with cloud cover in the background.
We stopped off at the Pisac market for some good shopping. Once again, we really missed Monica. I wish I'd taken more pictures. The food part of the market was really cool.
This is the one time that my LACK of Spanish skills came in handy. I was trying to bargain with the vendor over a Puma figurine, and these three girls decided to take up my case. They bargained with him in Spanish on my behalf. Unfortunately, they weren't very successful, and recommended that I buy elsewhere. Hey, I just enjoyed watching three beautiful Latina gals fighting for me. So friendly!
The Pisac cathedral in the background of a 400 year old tree that shades the center of the market. This cathedral also looked like it was lacquered in gold and silver.
I just thought this was a cool shot. The weather was absolutely perfect everywhere we went. We definitely picked the right season to head to Peru.
We ate lunch with a couple from England. She's originally from Finland, though. She described how her sis in Finland gets 64 days of vacation -- AND, if she takes it during winter, she gets double. WOW. Compare that to the standard two weeks in the States.
We stopped off at the Posadas del Inka hotel for a brief visit. This is a chain of five star hotels throughout Peru. If you can afford it, stay with them exlcusively. This European style chateau (?) was beautiful. We met a dude who's brother was getting married there the next week.
So, this Japanese girl (in her mid 20s) is being hit on by these two elderly gentlemen in the middle of this beautiful courtyard. I didn't notice until much later, but apparently the 80s fashion style is en vogue in Japan. This gal is wearing jeans with huge slits through the backside. Well, now you know what the old guys are staring at in the picture.
Check out Mas relaxing on the fountain. There's floral arrangements everywhere ... maybe they're preparing the place for the wedding next week?
